The ancient via Valeriana is a path, paved in some areas, already known in Roman times, connecting Brescia to the Val Camonica: until 1850 it was the only way of communication between the city and the valley, testifying to the isolation that characterised the valley’s populations during the course of the different eras.

The Via Valeriana route starts from Provaglio d’Iseo | Photo Riccardo Palazzani

Today the route is a trekking route that connects Fantecolo, just south of Provaglio d’Iseo, to the Aprica Pass along the orographic right of the Oglio River from Boario to Edolo, or to the Tonale Pass along the orographic left of the river along the same stretch. The longer route can be covered in about 40 hours.
